Totem

Symbol/Culture/Identity

Totems are the art poles with varied design and colour, created by different indigenous groups around the world. They are the symbols of the tribes, culture of worship and served as an icon of identity.

This group of artworks are created to explore the power of colour, using pattern to form artist’s own interpretation of culture and identity.

Yellow, Dark Blue and Black colours of poles are being selected, in response to the symbolic social and political meaning in current Hong Kong society. The artworks create an open space of imagination to the audience in exploring their own symbols of identity.
